Attorney General Candidate Torrico Endorsed
by Oakland Police Officers' Association

Torrico emerging as consensus choice for
California's rank and file law enforcement

Oakland, CA - Candidate for Attorney General, and Assembly Majority Leader, Alberto Torrico, has won the support of the Oakland Police Officers' Association (OPOA). The OPOA endorsement adds to a growing list of rank and file law enforcement groups across the state that have endorsed Torrico for Attorney General. Oakland Police Officers' Association President Dom Arotzarena called Torrico a champion for the rank and file. We're proud to support Torrico for Attorney General," said Arotzarena. "He will always be at the frontline in the fight to keep our officers and our communities safe." Assembly Majority Leader Torrico expressed his gratitude for the OPOA endorsement, saying, I'm honored to have earned the support of the men and women of Oakland's police department. The support of the rank and file means so much to me because for me it's personal. As Attorney General, the safety and well being of our state's law enforcement officers will be my priority. I'll keep on fighting until every California law enforcement officer has the equipment and resources they need to do their job. Torrico, whose brother is a veteran San Jose Police Officer, has emerged as the leading law enforcement candidate with broad support from the rank and file. Torrico has been endorsed by the 62,000-member strong Peace Officers Research Association of California, the state's largest law enforcement organization. Other rank and file law enforcement organizations joining the OPOA and PORAC in supporting Torrico include the Deputy Sheriff's Association of Alameda County, the Contra Costa Deputy Sheriffs' Association, the Fresno Deputy Sheriffs' Association, the Fresno Police Officers' Association, the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers' Association, the Los Angeles School Police Association, the Ontario Police Officers' Association, the Placer County Deputy Sheriffs' Association, the Sacramento Police Officers' Association, the San Bernardino County Safety Employees' Benefit Association, the Deputy Sheriffs' Association of San Diego County, the San Jose Police Officers' Association, the Deputy Sheriffs' Association of Santa Clara County, the Deputy Sheriff's Association of Santa Cruz County, the Solano County Sheriffs' Custody Association, the Stockton Police Officer's Association and the Upland Police Officers' Association. Torrico reported the strongest cash-on-hand position among AG candidates in July. He is the second ranking Democrat in the State Assembly, representing parts of both Alameda and Santa Clara counties.
